CMF Speaker S, a milk-carton-shaped Bluetooth speaker

CMF's $59 Speaker S is a portable Bluetooth speaker with a carton-like form, a tactile volume knob that doubles as a playback control, and swappable colored panels. It is notable for its tactile controls at a low price.

Story

CMF, a spin-off brand from the UK electronics company Nothing, sells the Speaker S as a portable Bluetooth speaker. The company describes its shape as inspired by the sharp geometry of a milk carton. It has a carabiner hook and removable panels, and it is IP68 rated for dust and water.

The controls are a small set of physical parts. A power button on the left lights up when the unit is on. A knob on the right controls volume, and it also works as a button: one press for play or pause, two for next track, three for previous. Colors come with different knob styles, and the review notes that the knob shape cannot be chosen separately from the color.

Two stereo speakers can be paired, and Auracast can link several speakers to one source. The speaker has a 45 mm driver and two passive radiators, and it is rated at 10 W RMS. Retail price is $59.
